My mother writes that she had post from her mother. 
I should write to her as well. My father suffers from the cold and the rain and comes home soaked through and through. It is difficult to get his cloths and boots dry till the next morning. My sister had not written home and my mother is very worried. She wonders whether she might be ill. Otherwise there would be no excuse for her not writing. My mother is knitting open mittens for my father. When he came home he ate and then lay down and fell asleep.
Meine Mutter hatte Post von meiner Grossmutter in Portugal. Ich sollte ihr doch auch mal schreiben. Mein Vater leidet sehr von der Kälte und kommt völlig durchgenässt nach Hause. Es ist schwer die Sachen über Nacht troken zu bekommen. Meine Mutter ist besorgt, dass sie keine Post von meiner Schwester hat. Vielleicht könnte sie krank sein? Sonst gäbe es keine Ausrede dafür. Meine Mutter hat Gelenkwärmer für meinen Vater
gestrickt. Als er nach Hause kam hat er etwas gegessen, sich hingelegt und ist eingeschlafen.
