My parents complain that I do not write in detail as some of the other children from Whitingehame do. They want answers to their questions. They had not heard from my brother in Palestine and they are also worried that my sister is not yet on the list for a Kindertransport.

There is news about relatives. My father has tried to find work but so far had no luck at the employment office. My mother urges me to answer all their questions. (As I was very unhappy at that time I probably did not feel like letting them know about it. I did try to write often but not to their satisfaction.)

My parents had received the return card, (the paid for return they had sent to him) from my brother in Palestine. He previously had no money for stamps. My mother is busy getting all the papers for my sister ready. She hopes that once my sister will be on the list, then we all will soon be able to get together.

My mother knows how hard it will be for them to part with their last child a mere 9 years old. But at least they know they paved the way for our future. My father meanwhile started work (forced labor) and promptly got a bad sunburn but in spite of great pain carried on going to work everyday. The hard work he does should entitle him to get a work permit to go to Palestine. (Just wishful thinking)

More news about relatives. My mother tries hard to keep me informed and up to date. My father came home from work but lying down was to tired to add his bit.


Meine Eltern wollen wissen warum andere Kinder ausführlich berichhten und ich noch nichtmal auf ihre Fragen eingehe. Vom meinem Bruder hatten sie lange keine Nachricht. Meine Schwester ist immer noch nicht auf der Liste.

Nachrichten über verschiedene Verwanndte. Mein Vater war schon oft beim Arbeitsamt, aber hat immer noch keine Arbeit gefunden. Meine Mutter bittet mich ihre Fragen zu beantworten. (Zu dieser Zeit war nicht sehr glücklich, wollte aber meine Eltern nicht betrüben. Obwohl ich oft schrieb wollten sie mehr über mein Leben wissen.)

Nach langer Zeit erhielten meine Eltern eine vorbezahlte Antwort Karte vom meinem Bruder. Er hatte kein Geld für Marken. Sie erhielten die Bescheinigung dass die Garuantie für meine Schwester endlich angekommen sit und mussten viele weitere Papiere besorgen.
Sobald meine Schwester in London sein wird, hofft meine Mutter dass wir uns bald wiedersehen werden.

Vor 10 Tagen hat mein Vater vom Arbeitsamt Erdarbeit in Kaulsdorf zugeteilt bekommen. Er steht um 4.15 Uhr auf und geht um 5.15 aus dem Haus. Meine Mutter steht mit ihm auf um sein Essen vorzubereiten. Trotz eines schreckliche Sonnenbrandes ist er weiterhin zur Arbeit gegangen. Wenn er zu so schwerer Arbeit fähig ist sollte er auch nach Palästina gehen dürfen.

Nachrichter über verschiedene Verwandte. Meine Mutter möchte mich auf dem Laufenden halten. Mein Vater kam so müde nach Hause dass er sich hinlegte und nicht mehr anschrieb.

היום הלכנו שוב ללשכת הנוער ברחוב רוזן. אחותך שוב לא ברשימה, למרות שבכל שבוע מגיעה רשימה חדשה. דודה גרטה בקרה אצלנו ובהזדמנות זאת יצאנו כולנו לטיול. אבא הלך מספר פעמים ללשכת העבודה אך לא הצליח למצוא מקום עבודה. אין מקומות באונייה לשנגחאי. סוף, סוף, הגיעו ניירות עבור אחותך. צריך שוב ללכת ללשכת הנוער להביא אישור מבית הספר, מרופא, ועוד.
